The RMAC was formed in the late forties and has been at our present field for over 25 years.
We have been told that it is probably one of the most beautiful model flying sites in New Zealand with a homely club house that has kitchen and BBQ facilities.
The location of the field was first identified during an aerial search for a new flying field by Colin Mudford in his private plane. Colin then organised the construction of the field out of wild bush and together other members put a huge effort into developing the field into what it is today.
Today's users are grateful for their dedicated work in creating our first class flying field.
We are also one of the few existing clubs that have a permanent control line flying circle. Control line was the only way of controlling model aircraft before radio control
and is still practised by a few members.
Rotary wing flyers (helicopters & drones etc) are welcomed and have a dedicated area for learning and test flying, especially for them. The surrounding areas are also available for exploration flying.
One great advantage of our field is its remote location, with no nearby residential areas to worry about.
